After being assured by a friend, who had also bought a lovely mare from Claire, that Claire was a true professional and could be trusted, I purchased "Pete" sight unseen. My husband found Pete on TradeMe when we were looking for an allrounder/spare hunter but Pete was also in the Bargain Bin. I was wanting to sell my horse to a competitive home where he would be well looked after. After a few emails and discussions with other agents, and a bit of asking around it was evident that Claire
was the one to go with because she has a reputation as being honest and also proactive in terms of selling horses on behalf of people. The fact that Claire has ridden the horse and had a good opportunity to assess it means that the buyers will get an honest and frank appraisal by the horsesales team, which is what sets them apart from the other agents. Also, its allows horses to be matched with the right rider which can be a challenge if you are buying a horse on face value from an advert.
I was really impressed how proactive Claire was in terms of marketing my horse, i.e. competing my horse at events and ensuring he was presented well. However he only got the opportunity to go to one event because he sold in 5 days! So my expectations were exceeded in that respect.
Aside from that, Claire is easy to get on with and always kept me in the loop with what was happening.
Horsesalesnz are very good at what they do and I will definitely use them to purchase or sell horses in the future.

I have had excellent results with Horsesalesnz being both the seller and the purchaser of a horse. I had a horse with Claire for selling and she and her team did a great job. Claire was very professional to deal with and her helpers did a great job too. The sale of my horse was done quickly and smoothly and I was kept updated throughout the entire process including updates from her new owner. Well 14 months later I'm finally sending you the follow up e-mail regarding our second purchase of a horse from your Bargain Bin.
The first horse we purchased was Johnnie ( now called Jackson) or Highnoon when he's out doing his thing. We brought him from Claire's Bargain bin and he has turned out to be an awesome horse and continues to just get better and better. Unfortunately at the same time my wife missed out on the horse she wanted so we only rated Claire and her team 10 out of 10 ...............we said we would have given them 11 out of ten but she still had to find my wife a horse.
About a month or two after buying Jackson we were back at Claire's place looking at this big black 6yr horse called Midnight Cole. Again he was one of Claire's Bargain Bin sales, twice the size as the original horse my wife was looking at but Claire insisted there was something there with this fella, he was just young and a bit lazy.
Fast forward Midnight Cole 14 months.....Finished in the Top 10 at HOY in Show hunter, Was the 7yr old National Champion at the National breeders Championships held in Taupo and gained numerous other placing's throughout the year. All in his first attempt at showhunter. As if that wasnt enough for this Bargain Bin buy... he is also an absolute legend out on the hunt field; full wire you name it, nothings a problem for him
Last season he was successfully competed by Tracy Parnwell who has brought him on slowly and done an awesome job with him. She is now looking at Show jumping him in the new season as well. Not bad for a Bargain Bin purchase...

My daughter Stacey and I are the very proud owners of a very special horse. I can say this with all sincerity as we have now had the pleasure of Cruisers company for about 10 months.
I phoned Claire one afternoon, I explained what I was looking for in a horse. Claire rang me later that night and said she had several horses for us to try. Not one to waste time, Stacey and I flew up to the North Island the next morning. Claire had 3 horses for us to ride, we liked all but fell in love with Cruiser. Cruiser was vetted the next day and on his way to CH-CH the very next day.The whole purchase experience was simple, professional and enjoyable, and we were made welcome in Simon and Claire's home. At the recent Young Rider Camp In CH-CH instructor John Cottle said "there is great chemistry between rider and horse, they like each other". Cruiser is everything we were told and Stacey 20yrs and Cruiser are now forming an exciting partnership, having their first Grand Pr ix start on Saturday placing 3rd and placing in their two Young Rider starts so far this season.
Cruiser is also happy for me (aged, broken and 12yrs since last competed) to ponce him around some Saddle Hunter classes which he appears to enjoy. Truly a testament to his 'to die for' temperament, and to Claire, Simon and Staffs training, handling and management of their charges.

Hi Just wanted to fire you an e mail to let you know that i took Ziggy to Aaron station x country jumping on my way to drop him off to Mary while i am in the UK, and what a dude we jumped all the little jumps and some of the 1.05 m novice jumps no problems. Also jumped all the lowered wires and spars no problems at all, roll on the start of hunting. What a cool little horse. Hope that the weather is nice over there, it is between 0 and 3 degrees here and has snowed most days, not much fun standing at the side of the arena. Claire sold my horse for me, which was a long and hard decision. I honestly have nothing bad to say at all about the whole experience. She made it so stress free and everything was not a problem for her- with made me feel so at ease with her selling him. Claire was always positive, happy and never stopped trying! I have recently bought a legend from Hawkes Bay called Munga from Claire. I thoroughly love Munga and we already have a couple of hunts under our belt. We had been looking for the right horse over a number of months once we knew that our daughter had skill and needed the right horse to continue on. We had got close to finding a good one from northland however getting up close to the animal it became clear that this was not the one for us. The head coach had spoken to us of Claire Wilson and suggested we look at the horse she had on the website. Antonella rang and discussed our requirements in detail with Claire. We decided that a trip to her place in Waipukurau was in order. On arrival we were met and introduced to "Maddie". It became apparent during a first ride that this was the horse for us. Claire put her through her paces and even introduced her to the water etc. Some negotiation followed and Maddie arrived at our pony club as discussed. We have not looked back and believe she will do everything our daughter needs to do in the coming years. I emailed Claire a while back asking what she had for sale? At the time Claire had nothing suitable, but always emailed when something she thought would suit came up. I emailed Claire last week to find she had a horse that sounded so suitable for what I was after. Before edventuring off to the Hawkes Bay from Wellington to view Ricky, Claire was so honest with answering all my questions down to every little thing to save me a drive if he wasnt suitable? She was so helpful to deal with and always responded to my emails. A friend and myself took the gamble and jumped in the car, (Along with the float) and headed off to the Hawkes Bay. When we arrived we found some very helpful girls, (Claire's stable hands) who were also so great to talk with. We took Ricky out into the arena and I loved him! He is a big giant, but has such a kind honest nature. The girls informed me that Ricky was one of there favourites! I new then he had to be a special boy! Well they were all so right, he is the kindest boy. We put Ricky on the float and he stood like a rock all the way back to Wellington, for a 4 year old boy, he is very very honest! I just want to say, thanks so much Claire and your team. After Months of looking on Trademe etc, you turned out to have just the fellow I was looking for! I love him to peices and Im sure he is going to do me proud! I will keep in contact with you and give you some feedback as we progress! I recently emailed Claire asking about a horse she had listed and telling her what i wanted it for, she was quick to reply and very honest telling me that she didnt think itd be suitable for me but she would keep a eye out for something more along the lines of what i was looking for. only a week or so later i got another email from her telling me to look at the bargin bin as there was one she had just advertised that she thought i might like haha she was right, I looked at him friday and had him in my paddock on wednesday. I found Claire great to deal with and very helpfull, she even took time out of her busy day at a show to let me come try tasty again in front of my mum. Hi Claire, I am really really happy with Robbie. I was happy with him when I first sat on him, so he was a good pick for me by you ... thanks. He traveled home so well - four hours in the float to Wellington and came off nicely - very interested in his new home also. I kept him yarded for 24 hours which he managed well with a few calls out to other horses which is to be expected and then put him out with his new paddock mates. He settled in with them with absolutely no dramas and has made friends immediately with another teenager in the paddock. When I went back the next day to check, he was lying down next to his new friend enjoying the sun :)) I have ridden him in our outdoor arena,the indoor arena and out for a hack up the forestry track with some of my friends- he has been fantastic (just got a fright from the cat in the indoor school). I expected he would tuck in behind the other two for the hack out- but NO he is a CAMP LEADER and marched up the hill happy as Larry...is also of course hill fit due to where he has been before me. Farrier tells me I have the best horse on the property as far as manners are concerned and when I had my first session with Beccy Penn she liked his trainability and attitude ... so YES I am most definitely happy with him .. I enjoy riding him and spending time with him - thanks so much !!! After the trouble I have had in the past it is such a lovely situation to be in ...Cheers Alison Bradford

We recently sent a horse to Claire to get to know and then advertise on behalf. In the middle of winter and during a busy university study period, we just were not finding the time or the right buyers for our little horse. From the very first phone call Claire was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
The service Claire provides is excellent. One of the main reasons for this is the communication she kept up. During our horse's short stay we were kept informed of how he was and his progress. After his short stay she helped us find him a ride back to our place, and even texted to see if he had arrived safely!
Another major reason is Claire's honesty. She endeavours to find out all possible information about a horses background and character. This means when you are buying you can be confident a horse is genuinely how it is described. This factor, including her large range of contacts and excellent marketing skills make finding suitable matches for buyers a much easier task.
Overall, we were very pleased with the service Claire provided; she goes out of her way to accommodate you and your horse, making the selling process so much easier. An excellent home has now been found for our horse and he is performing well already. We wouldn't hesitate to use Claire's services in the future.

I am one of those riders who used to ride every day and compete at shows O.D.E sports meetings etc many years ago. I became a second family man about 15 yrs ago and once my children got to riding age I once again after a long retirement got back on my very old and last horse. Unfortunatly old horses are like old dragons they move on, so my hunt for a horse that did not buck, bite, rear, bolt, and would be gentle, kind, and float well, and behave in a manner befitting an aged rider began. 3 years later I came across Claire and she introduced me to "Phoebe" who has turned out to be just what I needed. Phoebe floated home without worry and on my first outing I had to put a lead rein on my youngest girl pony, this was done without drama. We would like to thank Claire for finding our daughter a suitable horse. We had been looking for quite a while without any luck, as it was to be Emma's first hack it was imperative that the horse had no vices. Claire found us just that,a 16hh thoroughbred gelding. I requested Claire's help to sell my horse after visiting her website. I was in a situation where I didn't want to sell my horse, but had too as I'm pregnant. He is a very special horse and I wanted him to go to the best home possible. As I was unable to market him myself, I wanted someone with knowledge and experience and that I could trust with my special friend. We arranged to have him dropped off at her place for a few weeks. While he was in claire's care she kept me well informed, I felt totally relaxed knowing he was being well looked after. Within three weeks Claire had found him a wonderful new home. Buying or selling a horse can be a very time consuming and often frustrating exercise and not one I was comfortable with on my own when it came to selling my mare.
I was put onto Claire by Tinks Pottinger and you could not get a better recommendation than Tinks for how to go about the business of making sure you got the right person to help you.
From the moment I took my horse to Claire the communication was extraordinary and Claire went over and above the call of duty to make sure the horse was schooled, marketed and cared for during her stay which resulted in a successful sale to a happy new owner.

Hi, I am a buyer from Auckland that had been looking for a horse for a few months. I had travelled a few miles looking at horses from Whangarei to Hamilton. After looking at 7-8 horses and finding ones that I liked it was hard to understand compromises in horses with regards to pricing and believe me pricing was very varied. I found a horse that matched my descriptions and started correspondence with Claire. After a few conversations 2 similar horses were for sale at a very good price point. I thought one sounded a little closer to what I was looking for. I am pretty fussy with confirmation and movement as I wanted to event but to event a horse must also have tidy dressage, so the horse need to have straight correct movement with a good length of stride. I had a budget and this horse was in Clarie's bargin bin. After many photos and questions I agreed to buy the horse sight unseen after a vet check. I knew it was a risk to buy this way but the price point I bought the horse for was worth the risk based on what I had seen so far. The horse has been with me for 3 weeks and so far so good. From the moment he walked off the truck he has had a cool even head and nothing phases him. He has an excellent temperament good potential for dressage and his jumping is up to expectations. Even though the horse has only SJ he has had no problems with the various x country jumps presented to him. We are definitely still work in progress and I will be happy to add to the testfimonial as we improve. Thanks Claire the many e-mails and questions after the purchase as it is always hard to know what buttons to push (after having the same horse for 6 years) and I have had to ask questions as things arise. I have finally made time to sit down and write this e-mail to thank you and your team for everything that you have done for us over the last 3 to 4 months. To anyone that is reading this and contemplating buying or selling their horse then I cannot recommend highly enough Claire and her the team at horsesalesnz. As with every other testimonial on this page we also cannot give big enough praise about the service we have received from Claire.
Our story starts the same as most peoples, we were in the market for a horse for my wife and after scrolling through hundreds of horses everyday and sending countless e-mails via trade me, we still had not found the CHOOSEN ONE!!!.
Not sure how exactly, but we managed to stumble across Claire's website and the rest is history.
Couple of e-mails and phone calls later we were at Claire's property looking at horses she thought would be a perfect match for us base on the conversations we had.
The first horse we looked at was Johnnie ( Highnoon ) and he was perfect, an absolute dude of a horse and we have had him now for just over a month and he just gets better and better every day. Unfortunately my wife missed out on the horse ( someone beat us to it ) that Claire had picked out for her, otherwise she would have had a 100 % strike rate as she was exactly what my wife was looking for.
If your an experienced horse person or someone like me who prefers to bet on them rather than ride them, buying a horse from Claire and her team is the only way to go.
She will speak to you at your level , she's straight up, honest and best of all , she loves a wine.
The biggest thing for us, and this is where horsesalenz stand out from the rest....., they are not pushy with the sale of their horses........ "ONE SIZE DOE'S NOT FIT ALL"It's not about just selling you a horse with Claire, she's all about finding you your perfect horse and match and she's not afraid to tell you....NO, I think we can do better.
In a nut shell we cannot say enough about Claire and her team at horsesalenz......, They have been brilliant and have continued to be long after we brought our horse.

Hiya Claire, this is my chance to let everyone know what an amazing person I think you are. I met Claire about 3months ago when I started having weekly lessons with her on my crossbred gelding. I really felt desperate to have help and guidance with him as I had been having a few behavior problems with him and had lost a bit of confidence(which I didnt have alot of to begin with). I had one lesson where I fell of twice and ended up in tears of frustration. He was really good on a good day and a real brat on the bad ones.I battled on....After maybe 6 or 7 lessons on him I actually confessed(she already knew) that I was having trouble and asked if she could have him for a few weeks to give him a bit of discipline and a give me a really good opinion on how I could improve things with him....I came back up for my next lesson and she hinted that he just maybe wasnt the most suitable horse for me.(I balked at that).I really loved him.(apart from the naughty bits..anyway onto the lesson and 5minutes in he had me in tears.She put me on the other horse in the lesson and said now have fun and see what a well behaved horse is like.I was grinning from ear to ear within ten minutes and after that and a few tears listened seriously when she suggested selling him(to someone that could be more dominant with him) and finding me a horse that would make me happy and give me confidence.Sooo..into it we went and within 3wks she had found me the most beautiful mare.(infact she had known right from the start that we would probably be perfect together).But she insisted I didnt rush and to try as many horses that I could so I could understand what I was really wanting and needing.I did that and in the end tried the grey mare that she originally had in mind.I now own her and am so happy and relaxed with her.I know now that thanks to Claire my riding is going to improve so much and I am going to have endless fun and be safe. Claire you seem to have an amazing ability of matching people with thier ideal horse and I hope me and my beautiful "Splash" can go out soon and make you proud of the time and effort you invest in us. I feel really privelegd to know you and already consider you a great friend. You are always honest and helpful and I always know you truly do care about everyones happiness. If there were more totally genine people like you out there the world would be a much better place..I can never thankyou enough for everything. Everyday Im busting to get out there on Splash and go for hacks or pop over jumps out in the paddock and that is such an awesome feeling...What I always dreamed of.... Roxy Gimblett
Murf is going really well and a joy to ride. Recently I went to Horse Trials One Day Event at Woodhill Sands and did Pre-Training. He was really good. The dressage was ok, as I learnt the wrong test and had to learn the right test 30 seconds before I was due in. He handled it really well, as I was sitting on top trying my best to remember the test. The show jumping was really good, a bit too rushed but clear and happy. The cross-country was the fun part. Man he was different horse on the cross-country. He really did let fire, we cleared everything with no prob and definitely in the time!!! We have appreciated your time and effort into helping us find the perfect horses and that we couldn't have asked for anything more. Murf and Gem are absolutely ideal and although we haven't had them for long we can already see them going far. Thanks, Alex Chambers-Steward

I brought magic (rising 6, t.b) off Claire a month ago. She was really honest, helpful and trying her hardest to find me a horse that suited me. He's an awesome horse and I'm having a great time with him. I entered him in his first comp last weekend and he was a dream to handle, exactly what I was looking for in a horse. (and) ......Hi Claire, Rose would probably bite my head off if she'd know I am writing to you, but I thought I'll put my 'mother's 5 cents worth' in anyway (even so after 8 years of watching her and her horses, I really do not know much) :-). I think you were absolutely correct in matching Rose with Magic - I believe those two will have a lot of fun together once Rose will gain more confidence with him. As far as I can tell from observation so far, Magic has no dirt in him, has a healthy, no fuss horse brain, is 'chilled out', willing to try something even if it looks dodgy but smart enough not to do it if he judges it too silly! He's affectioned in a 'still have to get to know you, but so far your not too bad' a way. He has tried Rose out in small ways but they are sorting that out.And he absolutely loves to eat lol. He didn't put a foot wrong today in the top score competition or in the floating there and back. |

And yesterday, Rose had a great ride by herself over the farm, where they both had to get away from 'mother cows defending their calfs', and they cantered through a lot of mud to do so, both ending up covered with it :-) After a string of rather 'crazy' horses (and I am sadly certain that for most of them it wasn't their fault they turned out that way, but their handling, before Rose took them on), it looks like she has finally got a horse which suits her well - enough of a challenge and potential to develop, but not crazy or dangerous. Magic is the first horse for a while now that even I feel save enough to go up too and give a pat! That hasn't happened for a while and means a lot, as I am a total 'chicken' around most horses. The horse we bought from Claire is going really well, she's great to handle and does everything I ask on the ground and in the saddle. It was great dealing with you as we did not get up to see Tuku and we had to take your word about her. She was everything you said she was and more! We had been trying to sell our pony for a number of weeks, and things were just not happening. A friend recommended we try Claire. I rang Claire, and she was very obliging and up front about how their business works re fees etc. Claire took our pony the next day and had an ad on the website that very same day. Generally I seem to acquire and ride bad mannered horses and maybe this is what I deserve. However, for my family they must be quiet and bomb-proof, no buck, easy to catch and easy everything else. Having purchased our first pony some twelve months ago and our trialling this pony out around a clothesline in the back yard, we were determined to purchase our 2nd horse a little more diligently!
Through a friend we were introduced to Claire who had "Crickle" at her stables for sale. We were advised that Claire would give us an honest sale and provide genuine feedback in regards to our daughters riding ability.
Tracking down Claire can be a bit of a mission as she is obviously a very busy lady who has a full on schedule. Aren't the modern day conveniences of texting wonderful!
Within no time Claire had arranged for us to meet with her and set up a time for our daughter to ride "Crickle". Wow what an experience for our 13 year old daughter to meet such an accomplished rider.
The day finally arrived and we found ourselves at Claire's place. We received a very warm welcome and were introduced to "Crickle" and able to quiz Claire with 1001 questions which she graciously accommodated. Once we had the formalities out of the way it was quickly down to business and our daughter was able to trial "Crickle" in the jumping arena, walk "Crickle" along the main road and pop her over a few spars on the farm.
Hence to say "Crickle" was everything Claire said she was and we agreed to a purchase. In addition to this Claire made available the next day a few hours for our daughter to have a lesson with her on "Crickle", which our daughter repeatedly refers to as her "dream lesson with Claire"!
We have been in regular email contact with Claire since our purchase as "Crickle" settles in with us and even though the sale was completed Claire provides a huge amount of encouragement and support as we go through the settling in phase.
This purchase hasn't been just about a "sale" this has been like buying a horse from a "friend". We would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to buy a horse from Claire that the experience will definitely be a very positive and rewarding one.

The sale went really smoothly. Fast, efficient with nothing being too much trouble. The horse was well presented when I went to pick him up. The "after-sales" service has been nothing short of amazing. Claire is a great communicator and her integrity cannot be faulted. I recently asked for some help in selling a pony I had bought who, although lovely in nature, turned out to be to green for myself or my daughter to ride. This is quite a hard situation to be in as I hadnt had the pony long and I didn't feel confident enough to sell him on myself.
